    The Blackhand family is a noble family. They have lived in close relationship with the royal family of the kingdom since generations. The current leader of the family is Rubius Blackhand, who is the 57 years old father of Saphira. He himself has served in the army for long time, until an injury on his left leg, he took an arrow to the knee, made him unable to fight in wars. His wife is Emeralda Blackhand.

    Saphira was born the daughter of Rubius and Emeralda Blackhand. Those two are part of the Blackhand family, a highly valued family with close relation to the royal house. Saphira was raised in two different ways. Her mother was sweet and caring, nearly naive. Her father, however, was a warrior. He was gone often, due to the wars. But the time he was home, he prepared his daughter to be a soldier like him. To be a general even. He made her know fighting and tactics, he educated her in the way of war. He went hunting with her to make her lose the fear of killing.

    Saphira always was more influenced by her father.

    The young girl quickly learned she could get anything she wanted from her mother, if she acted right. That made her ask herself, if it was like that with most people. And she learned, yes, indeed, manipulation, if done right, would make almost everything easier. That, in addition to her fathers education, made her a very calculating person. She oftenly put her own well being before that of others.

    This lasted until she joined the army. She witnessed a small battle against bandits in a village. She was a mere soldier back then, barely joined the army. The commander ordered a retreat, as many of his men would have died. However, it would have brought victory. And when the people started to run, they got slaughtered anyways. Saphira could not understand how one could accept defeat, just to gain nothing. This was the day that strengthened her attitude. People still do not mean anything to her.

    Through few years, she climbed the ranks, her skill being incredible. She grew general when she was 24, having joined the army with 18. She got to show her skill as general in a couple of battles. And she did not let down her kingdom, partly even making it into history.
